Sacaton, Arizona — On Saturday morning, July 26, families and staff from the Gila River Indian Community gathered at the Sacaton Fairgrounds to celebrate the Summer League Award Ceremony. The event was hosted by Tribal Recreation and Wellness in partnership with Playmakers Youth Sports.

The 159th Annual Mustering In Day Celebration was held in District 7 Maricopa Colony on Saturday, Sept. 7. The celebration again honors the O’otham and Pee Posh men who were mustered into service as what became known as the “First National Guard” of Arizona in 1865.

200 youth attended the 37th Annual Youth Conference, hosted by the Akimel O’odham/Pee-Posh Youth Council (AOPPYC) on July 13-14 at the Double Tree by Hilton in Mesa.
 
 The conference’s agenda for the weekend provided the youth in attendance with many opportunities to attend workshops, informational sessions, and socialize. This year’s theme was “Revitalizing the River.”
